Telephone Banking - Faster Payments

Worked with British Telecom Global Services to provide software development activities for the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) part of a telephone banking project in order to implement the Faster Payments Service that is now available from UK Banks. New functionality had to be added as per customer requirements to the C++ Middleleware code running on Sun/Solaris machines utilising IBM MQ WebSphere messaging. Messages to/from the back-end systems arrive via a Message Queue. They arrive in XML format, are decoded by the Middleware and then formatted for the Periphonics telephony software. Likewise, similar functionality is performed for messages going from the Periphonics application to the back-end systems. Although this role was based in Glasgow, all of the work was done remotely, with regular telecons taking place between management and developers based in Glasgow, Frankfurt and New York. |
