Timatic3

Timatic3 is the latest release of the electronic system of providing users with real-time access to the Timatic database of travel information such as health and visa requirements and other relevant information – it is the electronic version of the Travel Information Manual (TIM).

Worked with SITA to resolve outstanding issues with Timatic3's C++ Command Line Interpreter (CLI) "Middleleware" code running on Sun machines under Solaris utilising IBM MQ WebSphere messaging.

The CLI retrieves requests for information from users. These requests arrive on an MQSeries message queue. The message is parsed, the Timatic database is queried, a response is constructed, and this response is then placed back on the message queue.

There are two message queues, one for requests and one for responses – the CLI reads messages off, and places its responses on to the respective queues.
